Loving August!

Well as mentioned before we didn't have much time for fun in July, BUT we are making up for it in August.
We decided to spend our anniversary quietly at home with our boys...okay maybe not so quietly but still at home and fun. We did a cheese fondue for a snack before dinner and then a yummy chocolate fudge fondue for dessert. James made up our fruit and marshmallow dessert platter. FYI mint chocolate marshmallows and pina colada marshmallows and strawberry marshmallows are delicious!!

Sat we headed to a local park and enjoyed a picnic just because we could. The weather was perfect and we all had a great time. We forgot to grab a lighter for the grill so we thought no biggie we'll just go borrow one from the folks next door having a picnic. They had matches and gave us several but the ND wind took care of those before we got it lit....so back over to them John went. More matches got it lit and then the wind blew it out. Probably could have went and purchased a lighter 5 times by this point which is what we ended up doing anyway. Too funny! James was only too content to run on the playgroud and play and Erik loved being free in the grass and showing off his pattycake skills. - I loved that he didn't try to eat any grass! :)

on the menu?

chips, italian pasta salad, hotdogs, grapes and toasted marshmallows of the above mentioned flavors which are even better heated to oooey gooeyness!

James never learned this he was not interested in it at all but Erik loves to show off that skill - how else will they be different?

James is the pickle kid! This was his second handful for the day!

Oh James.... this reminds me of a story about my uncle Chris it goes something like this.

When Chris was a little boy he LOVED ice cream and Grandpa found him eating more than one bowl one day. Grandpa asked him don't you think thats a lot?

No Chris answered.

Well is three a lot?

No.

4?

No.

and so on until they got to 8 bowls "would 8 bowls be a lot?"

Yeah, I guess 8 bowls would be a lot.  

I asked James how many pickles is enough. He looked down at the handful and said "mmm this is enough."

Had to add this last one in here James just hauls Erik all over now and plays with him even though Erik doesn't really play yet. He does LOVE getting pushed in the laundry basket. Yesterday James put Erik in the basket and then put in a pillow "safety first" I hear him say. Good lord that boy cracks me up!
